First Full Day in Glen Arbor
Here's my second entry into my Glen Arbor Travelogue. I did get out for a little bit of photography, but the weather hasn't quite cooperated yet.

A few more loads of laundry, a last-minute check of all photography equipment - and I'm off for my artist residency adventure in the Sleeping Bear Dunes / Grand Traverse Bay area!
After planning this trip for months, it's hard to believe the time has finally arrived. Fall color reports from Michigan.org are reporting color levels between 25-30% - so I'll arrive just in time for the show!
Remember - keep tabs both here and at my online Glen Arbor Travelogue. Remember to sign my guest book there!

I've been going through a variety of photos - some taken even a year or two ago, as I'm preparing the presentation I'll be giving at Glen Arbor. And I've found a few images along the way that somehow missed my first "glance" through when I review a day's work.
This one is timely, as was taken during my one and only visit to Sleeping Bear Dunes in June of 2006. After standing at this spot and looking 450+ feet down at Lake Michigan as the sun settled in for the evening - I realized I wanted to return to the area soon.
Wishes do come true!

I'm very excited to announce my image of the Gerald R. Ford funeral was selected as a MyParkPhotos Best of Show image for 2006-2007!
This is a big honor for me - there are terrific photographers who participate at this website, and it's humbling for me to be included with them. Congratulations to all of you who made it to the final selection.

I'm getting set up with a Glen Arbor Travelogue to post notes, news and images from my trip - so you, dear reader - can following along in my adventures.
At this point, I'm preparing some needed supplies, hiking gear, preparing the camera bag, and reading a lot of books and maps about the Leelanau and Grand Traverse region.
If you have some great tips and suggestions about where I should go and what I should photograph - now is the perfect time to tell me about it! Feel free to leave your comments here or on the Travelogue.

Well - I'm tired and sunburned and my feet hurt...but I would say my day at Rockford Art in the Park was a very pleasant experience!
I want to thank all of you who stopped by. I enjoyed chatting and meeting with you - sharing images, stories and photography talk.
I wish to also thank the Rockford Area Arts Commission who selected my work as "Best of Category" in the Painting/Photography division. This was my first award in a show setting for my collective group of work. I'm very flattered!
And special shout-out to the Wise Gals (Michelle Wise and her assistant Lauren) who freely asked to help me pack up the booth and load it into my car afterwards.
Tom Scott Photography gets a thank you for taking a few photos of me with my booth - as a photographer I'm always on the other side of the camera. I do exist!
And a VERY big thanks (and even a hug and kiss!) to my husband Russ for getting up so darned early to help set up the booth, stay home with the boys today - and then return to the show to take down after the show. I know you had a long week and a lot on your plate already. Love you!

Now available! Purchase your special Pure Michigan edition of Whisper in the Woods Nature Journal for $8.00 (includes shipping). Order HERE or contact subscribe@whisperinthewoods.com.
The special edition of Whisper in the Woods was published in July 2007, and was developed a special gift at the request of Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm to give to attendees of the 2007 National Governors Association Annual Meeting.
This special governor's issue showcases our state's natural treasures and is filled with images of Michigan outdoor beauty. The breathtaking photographs were taken by Michigan's topmost nature photographers, and feature everything from snowscapes on Lake Superior to sunsets on Lake Michigan - plus wolves, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and everything in between.
Four of my images are featured in this publication, alongside some of the best photographers in the Midwest - Steven Petrides, Dean Pennala, Carl R. Sams, Bruce Montagne, Tom Haxby, Carl Ray, Mark Graf, Mike Moats, Linda Henderson, Robert Domm, Rich Kelly, Rod Lawrence, Cindy Mead, Todd & Brad Reed and the editor and publisher of Whisper herself - Kimberli Bindschatel. Writers include Denise Baker, and Pam McCormick. Congratulations to everyone who represented Michigan so beautifully!
